My Morning Routine & Link Love

My Morning Routine & Link Love

Hi all!

Here's a list of what I'm enjoying and thinking about this week:

1. My Morning Routine . . .

In early January, I asked readers what topics they wanted me to write about in 2019 and folks had a lot of great suggestions. Readers asked me to share an updated post about my morning routine, so here you go:

I'm unable to follow through with my morning routine unless I get enough sleep. Typically I go to sleep at 8:30 or 9 PM on weeknights. Also, my morning routine is different when I travel. I adjust my schedule based on how I'm feeling and what activities I'm participating in.

Here’s what my typical routine looks like as of January 2019:

—I wake up at 4.50am, brush my teeth, and drink water.

—I let our cat, Christie, out the guest bedroom. Since Elaina died, Christie has been meowing very loudly in the night. She's so loud that I can hear her through my earplugs, and that's why she's been spending most nights in the other room. Then I feed my girl and give her lots of love.

—I make a pour-over coffee, and then I journal.

—After coffee and journaling, I text my writing buddy about my writing plans for the day while getting ready for a 6 am CrossFit class.

—CrossFit is one of my favorite parts of the day because I love the workouts (well, most of the time). Usually, the workout gives me energy for the day ahead!

—After CrossFit, I make a big breakfast, shower, and then I start my workday at 8 or 9 am.

And that's it! It's a simple routine, and it sets me up for a successful day.

There’s no one right way to create a meaningful morning routine. Over the years, I’ve experimented with activities that work best for my body, mind, and lifestyle, and I’d encourage you to do the same.

2. Rover …

The past week was full and fun! I traveled to Siskiyou for work and had a blast. Whenever I travel, I worry about our old cat Christie because she has health issues. However, I didn't worry while we were away because we found a wonderful pet sitter via Rover.
