Wine from Above

Wine from Above

"Save the carpet! Save the carpet!" I said.

I ran into the kitchen and shouted about finding the carpet cleaner. Red wine dripped down my scalp and forehead and slowly worked its way down my neck toward my cleavage. The right side of my ass, along with my arms, thighs, and calves were also coated in wine. Meanwhile, I was laughing hysterically.

Before the wine landed on me, I was sitting at our circular oak table with friends—Kory, Caitlin, Rylee, and Audrey. We were talking about politics and why voting is important. The Husband was standing near me eating snacks, and that's when he tried to save the cheese.

He was eating a slice of cheddar cheese, and it fell from his hand. The Husband didn't want the poor slice of delicious cheese to land on the carpet, but you can't save the cheese while holding a glass of merlot wine. The wine had to go somewhere, and as The Husband’s hands chased the cheese, the wine went up into the air and onto my head. And that’s when I shouted, "Save the carpet! Save the carpet!"

I feel compelled to say that we were not drunk. We were enjoying a Friday night filled with good conversation and yummy snacks with friends. I also haven't laughed that hard in ages. If it takes large glass of wine getting spilled on my head to produce so much laughter, I need to add more comedy into my daily routine. If you've read funny books, articles, or comics, please share them with me.

Other than getting wine spilled on my head and working, here's what I've been doing and reading:

Exploring Chico

Last weekend, our Yreka friends came to Chico for an overnight visit. We strolled around the Chico Famers Market, sunbathed by the pool at our apartment complex, and tried to eat all the food. We had delicious treats at Upper Crust Bakery, Brave Coffee, Aonami Sushi, and Jon and Bons; and that doesn't include the yummy food we consumed at my place. It was a fun weekend in the sun, and I'm grateful our friends made time to visit us!

Discover Siskiyou

This weekend, I’ll be in Siskiyou County gathering material for the Discover Siskiyou blog. I’m excited about the weekend ahead! I’m going to attend the Montague Hot Air Balloon Fair, the FLIXX festival, a farm to table dinner, and more. Hopefully, the blog will launch soon. I can’t wait to share it with you!

Logging workouts

My gym has an app that I use to log workout data. However, I wanted a physical notebook to track my progress because if I lose my data, I'll still be able to look back on my notes and personal records.

After searching for fitness journals online, I discovered Journal Menu and ordered a notebook from the company. I’ve been using my new notebook for a week, and I love it. It’s also fountain pen friendly!

Check out the site here.

Please note, I'm not affiliated with Journal Menu.

Good reads

Here’s what I enjoyed reading this week:

One Book

+ Last weekend, I spent time browsing the shelves at The Bookstore; a used bookstore in downtown Chico, CA. The Owl Who Liked Sitting on Caesar by Martin Windrow caught my eye, and I’m glad I purchased the book because it’s a fun read.

One Magazine

+ Bella Grace Magazine

What’s in your bag, Dieter Bohn?

I’d rather be a blogger.

+ I subscribe to the Chico Famers Market newsletter, and I enjoyed their recent missive about honey. Plus, the free recipes are creative. For example, the “Honey Custard with Roasted Strawberries” and the “Cucumber Melon Salad with Chile and Honey” make my mouth water.

With gratitude,
