Weekly Happy Links: Ace and the Desert Dog (and More)

{This week: Ace and the Desert Dog, why you should walk more often, books about walking, and more.}

Hi all,

Below are 10 happy links that inspired me this week. I hope you enjoy them, too!

1. Ace and the Desert Dog is a sweet short film about Ace Kvale and his dog, Genghis Khan’s, 60-day, off-trail backpacking trip for Ace’s 60th birthday.

2. Yes to this: "And so it should come as no surprise that walking is good for us. Our bodies were meant to do it. While running does have its benefits, it can be prohibitive as well, putting a lot of stress on the body, particularly for the elderly or those with joint or respiratory problems. Walking, on the other hand, can be done by just about anybody, and results in immediate and tangible benefits."

3. Need a little walking inspiration? Here are a few good reads: The Wander Society | Wild | Tracks | Almost Somewhere | A Walk in the Woods.

4. Falling Together with Rebecca Solnit and Krista Tippett is a thought-provoking conversation. The following quote by Solnit sums up the conversation beautifully: “... when all the ordinary divides and patterns are shattered, people step up to become their brothers' keepers. And that purposefulness and connectedness bring joy even amidst death, chaos, fear, and loss."

5. I enjoyed Cait’s post about why she changed the name of her website.

6. Fantastic tips via Austin: Advice for the recent graduate.

7. So good: Mindful updates to turn a van into a home.

8. A Well Traveled Woman is a lovely Tumblr blog that’s filled with inspiring photos and quotes.

9. As spring ends and as summer begins, I’ll be reading/working through The Artist’s Way. Also, I picked up a copy of Daily Rituals. Reading the book again will be inspiring!

10. And speaking of creativity, I’m developing an online course about creativity. I’m excited about the project, and I can’t wait to share it with you. To create a helpful class, I need your assistance. If you’re interested in taking an online creativity course with me, please fill out this 3-question survey.
