Last weekend, Logan and I visited visited Eugene, OR. Logan participated in the annual Ford Family Foundation Scholar Conference and met with the alumni board. It was a busy and interesting weekend. It was fun for me to be a small part of the conference because the incoming and outgoing scholars are inspiring individuals. Hearing their stories, future plans, and commitment to community service made me smile.
Logan was awarded a college scholarship through the Ford Family Foundation in 1996 and they also funded a significant part of his graduate school work. The Foundation does amazing work and it is fantastic that Logan is able to volunteer with the Ford Family Alumni Association and other community development projects. If you live in Oregon — or Siskiyou County California — check out the Ford Family Scholarship programs and the Ford Institute for Community Building.
I wish we’d had more time to explore Eugene, together. I loved cycling around the city, sipping coffee, visiting the University of Oregon campus, the Saturday Farmers Market, and admiring the books at the Smith Family Bookstore. Also, everyone I talked to was incredibly friendly.
We will definitely be visiting again this summer! Enjoy the photos!
