The Desire Map Day Planner: A Review & Giveaway

Desire Map“Gratitude puts everything into perspective.” — Danielle LaPorte

Last week, I was sitting on my front porch — relaxing after a six-mile hike — when the FedEx guy arrived. He stepped out of his van with a large shiny silver envelope and handed it to me. I wondered what was inside the package because I wasn’t expecting books or stationary.

When I opened the envelope, I squealed with delight. I received the new 2015 Desire Map Day Planner by Danielle LaPorte. This gift came at the perfect time because on my hike I decided to purchase the new planner. Surprise packages are the best!

I’ve been using the 2014 Desire Map Planner since January and it’s helped me stay on track with my intentions. I use it as a planner and diary, which has been a fantastic creative combination. However, I’ve experienced one drawback with the 2014 planner. There isn’t enough space to write my to-do lists in the daily calendar section. So, I started using my other journal for that purpose and began using the planner to stay focused on long-term goals.

The 2015 planner rocks because Danielle — and her team — improved the design. It reminds me of a super-sized Moleskine (but it’s way better).

Below are a few things I love about the new version:

  • The size of the planner, the texture of the cover, and the feel of the paper are delightful.
  • I especially love the interior layout. It offers more room for dreaming and scheming on a daily basis.
  • I appreciate the space — and questions — for reflection at the end of each month.
  • I like the elastic closure and the pocket in the back of the planner. I can tuck additional notes, stationary, and other odds and ends in the planner. Now, I won’t worry about losing those items.

In addition to my Midori notebook, the Desire Map Day Planner will be part of my daily life in 2015. Digital tools help me share my ideas, yet, there is nothing better for my creativity than using analog style tools.

Be well,
Tammy

P. S. Danielle offered to giveaway one planner to a RowdyKittens reader! To participate in the giveaway:

It makes me realize how lucky we are up here in the mountains to have crisp, clean air to breathe everyday, making everything more beautiful. I really miss the delicious mountain air once the smoke rolls in! Hopefully the fire will be extinguished soon and we’ll return to everyday being crystal clear. I’m grateful for my wonderful family. Some people don’t spend a lot of time with their extended family, but most of my mom’s side lives nearby, and as I have gotten older we’ve gotten even closer. A few weeks ago we had a sort of impromptu BBQ at my grandma’s, as a surprise for her (she was thrilled) and tomorrow we’re all meeting for lunch on our lunch breaks to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. I know a lot of people who don’t have much, if any, connection with their immediate or extended family. Earlier today I was thinking about just how lucky I am. Then this post showed up with an opportunity for me to share it! 🙂

  • Alita M September 25, 2014, 11:01 pm

I am great-full for every moment that I remember the inherent goodness in life each day: the little moments that I can cultivate that add up to make a beautiful life such as connections with the many people that get to assist in my job; sharing bubbles of love (“I love you’s”) randomly felt and often verbalized to my children, friends and to surprised and smiling co-workers ;); for wanting more and feeling hope more than despair; for pulling myself out of the “weeds” because I have access to feeling good; and for many moments of joy that bubble up out of the occasional muck that my mind gets me into – the lotus flowers that rise up because I’ve had access to words of wisdom from likeminded people. I have a very rich inner and outer life that I’d enjoy recording and pre- planning with Danielle’s day planner. And I will buy one if I can find it somewhere in my town, though how enjoyable to win it!!

i am grateful for my new mantra that I’ve adopted from the lovely Sally Hope. It goes like this, “I am worthy” . That’s it. I said it all day yesterday. Anytime a thought crept into my head that looked anything like self doubt, lack of self love, fear or insecurity, I just said it out loud. “I am worthy”. It’s cleared so much space in my head for creativity to emerge and I started writing in Evernote what will someday be my first blog post. I am grateful for my awakening and truly feeling worthy of all the love, happiness and abundance that is available for each and every one of us. I am also grateful for my daughter, my cats and the gorgeous overcast sky in Tucson today. XXOO S

This is fun! I meant to tell you that I love the new art header. I may have missed the announcement, but did you create it?

I’m grateful for my simple little life with my husband, kitty Sergio, and new little dog Sadie. I’m grateful for our kitty Kaci, who we had the honor of loving for 15 years before she finally passed on this summer. We talk about her every day and even though the pain of losing her was intense, we felt so honored to be the people who loved her and took care of her.

I’m grateful for finally feeling like I’ve finally arrived at a place of deep contentment. I still have goals and great things I want to accomplish. But I’m finally just thrilled with everyday life in a way I hadn’t experienced in my younger years.

The planner looks fun! I have the original book and found it very inspiring. 🙂

    • Tammy Strobel September 28, 2014, 6:26 pm

Thank you! I didn’t create the new header. You can find a link to the artists name on my “start here” page. 🙂

I’m grateful for the health I have regained after having had a serious illness, and all the lessons I learned from experiencing it. I feel like I live a deeper life now, even though I have more limitations than before. I can DO less, but I can BE more.

  • Elizabeth Crouch September 28, 2014, 12:08 pm

I’m grateful & overjoyed for my first born daughter’s vibrant health. At 38, with one son, her marriage unraveled and she was diagnosed with a serious cancer. Still, she remained deeply committed to raising her son to respect women and greet life with deep curiosity. She continues moving through life with grace and elegance.

I am grateful to live here in America and for the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures. We have a truly amazing life here in the U.S. and after my recent trip to Acapulco, Mexico I am committed to never complaining again about anything because I saw such poverty there that I cried, wanting to help everyone and all the animals.

It’s begin separated and nothing changes.’ – writer unknown.

I am grateful for my daughter who is wise and kind beyond her ten years. A strong willed mom who battles through cancer for the love of her children just to see there faces yet one more day! For twighlight and the mysterious small moment when there is just enough light that elimuminates the silhouette of the Arizona mountains against the night sky. For a star filled heavenly sky with just a sliver of a crescent moon. The sound of wind blowing through the trees and the tranquil sound of the ocean waves!

I am grateful for the change of seasons and the reminder it brings… Fresh starts can be gradual, gentle, and beautiful: the changing colors of autumn leaves, the first icy white snowflakes, the buds of spring, the warmth of summer.
