A Photo Essay: Ashland Adventures

by Tammy Strobel on January 3, 2014

On New Years Day, Logan and I drove to Ashland, Oregon for an overnight getaway. We had lunch and dinner at local restaurants, walked all over Ashland, and we discovered new hiking trails in the area. We stayed at the Ashland Springs Hotel. Our room was beautiful and we even had a view! Plus, the continental breakfast rocked. This year, we are going to see a few plays in Ashland and we will definitely stay at at the Ashland Springs Hotel again.

Mini-adventures always inspire me and this trip didn’t disappoint us. It was fun and I came home refreshed and ready to begin the new year.

Enjoy the photos!

Ashland looks like a lovely place! I’m impressed with the hotel – that lavender bath tea sounds wonderful! I love mini-adventures; my husband and I make sure to take several every year.

What beautiful pictures! I am in Australia and never heard of Ashland but I Googled it and was interested to read about its size and history. I love following your life so many miles away and always look forward to your posts.

Oh wow, this looks beautiful. I could handle that coffee table by the windows and not need much else inside I think! I adore seeing this wintry images as we face some stinking hot days here in Australia. Thank you for sharing so many beautiful moments. I love the look of the wider trails, perfect for my vision impairment. Is that little pond frozen?

@Lucent – Thank you! I hope it cools down in Australia soon. Super hot weather isn’t fun. Yes, that little pond is frozen. :) The guy standing on the edge was walking across the pond before I snapped the photo. :)

People speak so highly of Ashland. It’s great to get this view through your lens. Thanks, Tammy!

Happy New Year to you and Logan! Can’t think of a nicer place to begin it than in Ashland . . . my son and his wife have stayed at the ASH and raved about it. Will have to stop there someday when I’m not in such a hurry to get to Portland. Thanks for the lovely pics, Tammy. You really have a good eye for texture and light!

Ashland is such a nice town. Very well maintained and charming. It feels a bit European which I noticed the very first time I was there in 1997.
What a nice hotel. Sounds like you had a great time there over the holidays.
The plays in Ashland are also really nice. And so many people come there to attend.

Really lovely Tammy . . . makes me sort of sigh a big sigh when I see what you’re getting out of your iPhone . . . I just splurged after saving for almost 2 years, and bought a Pentax K-3. I’m loving it but it is a hunk of metal to haul around!

Nice that you two had such an enjoyable getaway . . . Happy New Year!

I have gone to Ashland in September the last couple years. We stay in a small hotel up the street from Ashland Springs. We see some plays and eat at marvelous resteraunts. I love thpicture of the back f the Elizabethan from the park.

Thanks for this – I lived in Ashland for 4 years during college. Nice to re-visit it through your pictures.

Beautiful photos, Tammy! Just finished reading your book while I was abroad for a semester in Ireland. It really inspired me to donate so much of the stuff I owned since I’ve been back in the States. I’ve already found it so much easier for packing my things and moving into my place at college. Also, I’ve really been enjoying your morning photos on Facebook. Thanks so much for the de-cluttering inspiration, and keep up the beautiful photography!

This sounds (and looks) absolutely wonderful and darling!
I hope you got everything you needed from this getaway.
Thank you for sharing. :)

Tammy, I found your site from Joshua Becker’s Becoming Minimalist blog. I’m so glad I did. Gorgeous photos. I’d love to know more about how you take such beautiful pics on an iPhone so I can quit dreaming of a DSLR camera! :)

I love the look of your blog too. Keep up the good work!
