Home Sweet Home

by Tammy Strobel on October 31, 2012

Yesterday afternoon, I finally arrived at my little house. I’ve been away for twelve days and it feels so good to be back home. I missed Logan, the tiny house, and my kittens. I also missed the epic sunrises that I get to see every morning here on the ranch. And this morning was especially amazing.

When I woke up, I looked out the loft window and was blown away by the colors. I’ve never seen such beautiful clouds and deep pinks, purples, and blue tones in a sunrise before. So I quickly climbed down the loft ladder, put on some warm clothes, grabbed my camera and went outside. The kittens were right on my heels while I took pictures. But soon they headed back into the house because of the strong wind.

As I snapped photos this morning, I thought I was going to get blown over. The wind gusts — both last night and this morning — were between 20 to 40 miles an hour. The wind reminded me of hurricane Sandy. I can’t imagine what the winds must have felt like on the east coast in the last days.

I’m incredibly grateful to have my little house as shelter and my heart goes out to all the folks who have been displaced by the hurricane. Donate to the relief effort here and read this post about preparing for emergencies.

Be well,
Tammy

P.S. I was interviewed by the awesome Srinivas Rao, for BlogCast FM, last month. The interview is finally up! Listen in here.
