Settling In + Inspiring Links

by Tammy Strobel on September 7, 2012

{Every week, I publish a small round-up of my favorite articles, books, photos, and other goodies. Enjoy!}

I have’t been online much this week because of the move and we’ve also been outside a lot too. We’re helping with party preparations because, tomorrow, Logan’s grandparents are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary! There will be a big celebration at my father and mother in-law’s house. I’m really looking forward to the party because we’ll be able to connect with friends and family that we haven’t seen in a while.

We’re settling into the house and feeling happy and content. This morning I sat on the front porch, drinking coffee, and I watched the sunrise over Mt. Shasta. Then I did a little bit of writing and responded to a lot of email.

The cats seem to like it here too. It’s fun to watch them explore the ranch. For example, Christie sauntered out to the barn and then ran back to the tiny house at mach speed. By mid-morning, Elaina made her way over to the yard by the big house. As soon as she stepped into the grass, the chickens were curious and came over to see what kind of new creature entered their territory. About a dozen adult chickens surrounded Elaina and proceeded to follow her around the yard. Elaina seemed a little intimidated by her new feathered friends, but she made the best of it. Unfortunately, the lighting was too bad to get a photo. The cats are definitely in their element and are sniffing every surface around the tiny house.

And last but not least, I’m trying to relax before the book launches on September 18th. The tiny book tour is approaching quickly and I’ll be traveling a lot in September and October. I’m enjoying the quiet time before the craziness starts.

If you’ve already received a pre-order of the book, please leave a review on Amazon.comBarnes and NobleIndie Bound or Powell’s. It would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your support and help!

What a beautiful view of Mt. Shasta! I hope you will be very happy in this period of your life. A 70th wedding anniversary! How amazing is that? It’s nice that the kitties had a chance to explore outside once you moved into the tiny house. Naturally, they are tentative at first, but they will be bounding around in no time!

Amazing view, so calming. Just looking at the picture is calming.

As suggested ;-) have just given you your first amazon.co.uk review. The least I could do to say thank you for writing the book. Have read it once, I’m going to read it again now and take notes on all the bits I want to adopt. I don’t do this on the first read through as I don’t like to disrupt the flow of the book.

Just last weekend I drove through Weed on my way to visit family east of Bonanza Ore. It had been awhile since I was there. The beauty of it all had me smiling crazily and more than a little emotional. Hope your time there is wonderful. Casey

I love your website and I am reading your new book. I love it all. You are living the lifestyle we always wanted and didn’t do full on. We have done some things that are similar. We are in our 60’s now and we are not able to do the things you do-but we really love hearing about everything in your blog and book. Thank-you, Jessie
