A Book Giveaway + The Blog Tour

Yesterday, Logan and I drove to Sebastopol, CA for my first author event at Copperfield’s Books. Despite my nervous energy I had a blast last night. I met amazing readers and a young man who built his own tiny house! Plus, I had lunch with my friend Kent and a spontaneous dinner with a few new friends.

I have so many stories to tell you, but they need a few days to simmer. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to do a book giveaway and update you on my blog tour.

A Giveaway

Today, I’m giving away THREE signed and stamped copies of my new book, You Can Buy Happiness (and it’s Cheap)! Simply leave a comment at the bottom of this post and fill in this sentence, “Happiness is . . . ”

I’ll announce the winners on Friday, September 21 in my weekly link round-up.

And the blog tour continues . . .

I’m incredibly grateful that so many of my peers took the time to review my book and allow me to post articles on their lovely sites. I told Logan last night that I’ve been blown away by all the support I’ve received throughout the book writing process and during the book launch too.

Enjoy the articles, interviews, and book reviews below.

Happiness is – being happy with who you are and what you have.

I have just discovered your web site and your book. I am totally enjoying reading about your journey. My husband and I (42 years) are beginning our own journey towards simplification. We are currently retired and have plenty of experience at “wanting” and “getting”, and can totally can confirm that “having” doesn’t bring happiness. This year we are downsizing … with the hope that we will eventually move into an in-law suite near our son and daughter-in-law. We are making the shift to less is more. But even if the planned move does not happen, each item that leaves our house gives us happiness.

Thank you for sharing your story.

Happiness is being able to embrace fear to overcome obstacles standing in the way of achieving one’s dreams. Tony Robbins hits the nail on the head with his mantra ‘Progress Equals Happiness’. Progress is subjective of course. For some it might be living a more purposeful life through simplicity, for others it might be the freedom of location independence. For me it’s doing meaningful work that liberates me 🙂 Love your Tiny House by the way (and your cat)! What a beautiful home x

Happiness is a cold, wet Portland day when I’m in my comfy chair, blanket on my lap, cat on the blanket, hot tea and a juicy book. It’s when my son and I are playing around and he laughs with the pure unadulterated joy that only a young child seems to remember how to do…and the beauty of it makes me remember. It’s seeing an amazingly huge moon hanging over the tree tops and me thinking, “How on EARTH can that moon be that big?” and then realizing it’s not on Earth at all. It’s watching the bumblebees laden with pollen, covering the Russian sage.

Congratulations on the release (and another bit of happiness is that Washington County’s library already has 10 holds on your book! 🙂

Happiness is… simply happiness. It’s so much to get at once, that gving it more meaning is pointless. And if we call happiness the other way, it may depend on this new way – then it may become unachievable. What is impossible, when we call it simly happiness… Or even not, just feelilng it 🙂 Take care 🙂 I wish you Joy og every Moment 🙂

I found you this evening on Zen Habits and thought — she thinks what I think! I, too, lost my father earlier this year and found the time with him during his last days to be a lot of things: overwhelming, sad, crushing, beautiful, joyous, insightful, loving and filling in with memories.

I then ventured here and noticed your closet re-organizing post on Be More with Less and laughed out loud (nearly dispensing the tears from those last days with Dad). I just went through a closet purging, donation gathering, reorganizing as well — a little weird in a good way. Anyway, it flet like the house got lighter — and so did I.

Thanks for reminding me that there are others out there like me, it makes the journey a lot more interesting.
