Everyday Life: Books, Babies & Other Goodies

by Tammy Strobel on August 16, 2012

{Photography helps me see the world differently and enables me to be less sad about my dad’s death. Since I’ve been taking so many photos, I decided to begin a new series on the blog called  “Everyday Life.” The series showcase’s images from my everyday life. In addition, it fits perfectly with The August Break. Enjoy!}

The final version of my book arrived in the mail a few days ago. It’s so pretty! I can’t believe it will be going out into the world on September 18th! A big thanks goes to New World Library, Logan, and my family for making this possible.

I wish my dad was here to celebrate this moment with me. But I know he’s floating around in the clouds smiling. Last night, I had a dream about him. He was smiling at me and I gave him a monster hug. In the dream, I hugged him for as long as I could because I was afraid to let him go. He said, “Tammy, what’s wrong? I’m okay. Don’t worry.” It was such a comforting dream.

And speaking of writing, I’ve been writing essays for my blogging book tour this month and focusing on my writing class. Luckily, I have a few helpers who are keeping me in line . . .

Also, I’m still eating well . . .

Finally, we’ve been spending a lot of time with friends. Last night we had dinner with our buddies Heather and Dave. They had twin boys about a month ago and they are adorable!

What have you been up to this month?

Got my first smartphone (a Galaxy SIII) and the first thing I downloaded after realizing it already had the Kindle reader app, was Instagram. I’ve enjoyed photography since high school but haven’t done much lately. Looking at your tumblog inspired me to start making pictures again and, well, the smartphone was the kick in the pants I needed to actually do it. Planning to take a picture a day for the rest of the month using Instagram and post it to my facebook as well as my new tumblog (http://modernmonkeymind.tumblr.com/). By the way, newbie question for you: Can you upload directly to G+? Don’t think I saw that option, and I’d love to be able to cross-post there too.

love this! love the photography so much, especially the kittys (my faves) and the awesome veggies for the salad! your photography is inviting, colorful, and Fresh! I too, have dreamt about my family members that have passed away and the feelings I felt when I woke up were the same as yours. To me, it is truly them visiting you and letting you know they are happy and alive, just in another world…a beautiful, safe, home that we will all visit one day. Just to get you thinking about whether this is true or not, I never dreamt of these people or rarely until they passed away. It’s not coincidence, it is them telling us, we are OK! love to you and your new fabulous amazing book!

CANNOT wait to get your book physically in my hands. And believe me, I am going to push it a lot to all friends and family! I helped celebrate both my grandchildren’s birthdays, only one week apart, this month. Also have been stepping up my musical activities by starting to practice with a jam-praise band, as well as playing for church on the traditional grand piano. Also have been very much involved in gifting/sending off young adult to college around here and helping a mother with four teen sons who came here with absolutely nothing but the clothes on their backs. Having your book to show how well the very simple life can work, freeing up so many resources, will really fit in quite well with what I am already involved in, besides my writing. I was able to publish a segment of my WIP yesterday on my website which I am particularly excited about. So very pleased about your comforting dream about your dad and that great visit with friends and new babies! And your food pictures here are making my mouth water!

Any plans for a Kindle version of the book…? Or be able to buy through iBooks?
