Nourish

Whenever big changes are on the horizon, I forget to nourish my body and mind. It’s all too easy to let stress overwhelm me, so this week I’m going to focus on activities that nourish my heart which include:

-Diving into Blogging from the Heart.
-Walking.
-Mapping out my next ecourse.
-Writing & taking photos.
-Creating inspiration boards.

In the inspiration board below, you’ll find a nourishing micro-action. Remember to take care of yourself when stress seems to dominate your life.

I created a template in Fireworks, that I use for my iPhone photos and photos from my Nikon D5000. :)

I also use a fun app called Diptic.

Tammy, I am going to nourish myself this week by:
1) writing more on paper and not just online;
2) having lunch with my prayer partner;
3) writing snailmail letters to both my adult children!

I took an UrbanZen yoga class this afternoon. Wow. Totally nourishing. I’m going to have to make this a regular part of my week! Also taking another yoga class (hatha) tomorrow.
* Wednesday I am making dinner for my best friend, whom I haven’t seen in a few weeks
* I also want to catch up on my handwritten journal. I don’t put *everything* on the blogs!

*letting myself cry
*hot pink roses and peonies
*lots of cuddling and walks with my dogs
*deep breaths
*reading

This week, I will:
1. Watch a cheesy TV show that I love.
2. Take time to prioritize each day, so that I know just what needs to be done.
3. Go to supper at the home of family members, and let their hospitality nourish me.
4. Select books to take along on an upcoming vacation!

I love that you are asking this question….

Years ago, my Buddhist teacher asked me that same question and for years she has continued to pester me (in a loving way) about it. What I’ve learned over time is that nourishment is quite different from indulgence.

Things that nourish me take care of the deepest part of my soul… so doing things like creative writing, meditation, and working out at the gym are great forms of nourishment for me, even though they take some discipline. On the other hand, my forms of escapism like eating doughnuts or reading trashy novels may feel good initially but are the opposite of nourishing. So… I keep learning!

snuggle and read 20,000 leagues under the sea with my younger son, a cuddlebug
try not to guilt myself with the things I *should* or *shouldn’t* do, just be aware of feelings.
