Embrace Change

by Tammy Strobel on May 9, 2012

There are a lot of changes happening in our lives right now. I’ll be blogging about the specifics of these changes soon. (Don’t worry our health is great and my dad is okay). In the interim, I’ve been thinking about the importance of embracing change. One way I do that is through photography and reading.

Both activities inspire me and make me realize how lucky I am, even when things seem to be falling apart. For the last few days, I’ve been taking a lot of photos and reading some of my favorite quotes. Today, I wanted to share a few highlights with you. I hope you like the inspiration board!

As always, I love hearing from you! How do you embrace unexpected life changes? Join the conversation on G+ or leave a comment below.

I love a good quote. That first one, and the one from Steve Jobs really got me. Unfortunately I don’t embrace change well, but I am hoping the change that! :)

Change is good! Even change you don’t necessarily want. You’ve already, clearly, perused the “quotes” websites. But I rather like this one, as it describes how my life has gone more than once!

“Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” -Marilyn Monroe

So glad to have this new comment format, Tammy! I love the inspiration board. I think the one that resonates the most with me is the one about making a new ending, by Maria Robinson. That is what I am super-focused on these days! Hugs and hooray!

Steve Job’s quote really puts things into perspective. Thanks.

I, too, appreciate the Steve Jobs quote. I lost my 87 year old mother 6 weeks ago. The day after the funeral my landlord who is family decided not to renew my lease. I lived across the street from my mom for 6 years. A choice to be closer to help. That time is over. It is time to move on. Choices are made by you or they are made my someone else. I choose to make my own choices. How I reacted to this many changes was sitting down and allowing myself a good cry. Then I wrote out all my options…because seeing them before me brings me joy that I am blessed to have so many. A choice requires action. Then things really get going.

I have to admit, I have made decisions in the past that where not right for me….so it was up to me to make them right. Again choosing to make the best of a situation you are in and then change it when the timing is right.

Good luck with all your new changes you are making.

Mary I’m so sorry for your loss, and the events following. You wrote beautifully here though about getting through it. Very inspirational. Good luck to you. :)

I prefer the one from Maria Robinson….. in fact we all have so many possibility’s ! we’re so lucky.

Wow. I love these quotes. Steve Jobs articulated his view well; it really sunk in.

If I hadn’t learned to adapt in the last 4 years I don’t know what would have happened. It’s just like that saying. “life happens”. All you can do is go with it.

I liked the one in the reply by Mary Denny, ” choices are made by you or be someone else”
Heeding the ones you listed I need to not let indecision give others the power to make choices I have to live by. Thanks to all…

I enjoyed the photos and the quotes, and change is worth is embracing, but the most important theme of this post is the focus on beauty (to me). Beauty heals. Beauty breathes. Beauty inspires thought. Focus on the beatiful and the change just gets lost in the mix.

I love these boards that you’re making Tammy :o) How do you make them? I embrace change by knowing that I’ll be a better person in the end. I try not to put up such a fight anymore, as resisting the flow of life is just not worth it. This is also a great video to watch (your quotes reminded me of if): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPR3GlpQQJA

Sorry for the slow response. Your lovely comment was stuck in spam. I use adobe fireworks to create my boards. I’ll have to write a how to post on that soon. Can’t wait to watch the video!

when ever I am stressed, overwhelmed or just in one of those moods, I like to find pretty places, take off my shoes and dig my toes into the earth. If we are connected to earth…to nature…we find peace. Thanks for your pictures and your stories….love them!

Thank you for the nice board. I appreciate this quote to help me as life evolves (changes!) :
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” ― Hunter S. Thompson

change is the only real thing you can count on!
i love the ancient philosophies whose premise was “the vacant abode.”
we are here for such a little while. and that while changes constantly.
it’s always better to be happy to just go with it and live in the vacant abode.
some fight it. and they will fight it always then. for change is constant!
i love your blog and i am holding all good thoughts for your dad. and your mom.
and you. and logan.
love,
tammy j
